Mardi Gras Shabbat is the first Shabbat of the year. At Mardi Gras Shabbat, over 130 students enjoyed the New Orleans decor, and Kosher jambalaya!

That Friday, we met at the AEPhi sorority house for Shabbat candle lighting, followed by the Challah that they baked and some delicious matza ball soup

Another Chabad-Sorority partnership is Loaves of Love.
Members of AEPhi and SDT bake Challah at Chabad, and then distribute it at Lambeth House - a retired living facility.

Over 40 students enjoyed the iLearn series - a group of classes given by Yochanan and Sarah Rivkin on various Jewish topics

Chabad brought Jewish learning to the Law School, with Lunch and Learn.
Sinai Scholars is an innovative program run on 40 campuses across the country
Up to 20 students are accepted for an eight part series of classes basic Jewish topics, centering on the Ten Commandments
Participants are eligible for a stipend of up to $400
At Tulane, Fall semester co-ordinator Amanda Diamond recruited the participants, and also made sure that the refreshments were ready for each session
During the semester, students participated in a field trip, visiting a Mikvah construction site..
...and the old Jewish neighborhood of New Orleans, as well as other Jewish sites of interest.
The program concluded with a graduation ceremony on December 7

The end of the semester was clouded by the tragedy in Mumbai. In response Chabad and Hillel held a memorial service - Shabbat candle lighting ceremony
The semester ends with finals, and students crowd into the Chabad House during midnight breakfast, to get a bit of food which will sustain them through the night of studying.
